March for Jacquard

The sound installation March for Jacquard deals with the production of silk wallpaper, not in a didactic, but in an artistic and aesthetic way. An approximately 10 meter long data carrier of a Jacquard loom runs in a circle on a triangular construction. Detailed recordings of the movements and noises of the machines are projected on this paper data carrier.
The perforations in the data carrier create a play of light on the wall. This light moves across an existing physical wallpaper in a historic villa in Lucerne, which was woven using this technique.

The work was realized with the support of the Museum Neuthal Textil- & Industriekultur.
