SEMA

In contrast to Europe, there is still a very strong craft scene in Turkey. My project aims to connect and preserve traditions and bring them into the present. The aim is to create aesthetic, cross-cultural objects that convey a cosmopolitan and inclusive message and emphasize the social structures of craftsmanship.

Swiss silhouette and Turkish metal spinning

Together with animation artist Manuela Leuenberger, I developed an illustration for the SEMA tea tray that combines traditional Swiss and Turkish symbolism, such as the edelweiss and the tulip, on an ornament in the style of a silhouette. When the tray is turned, the figures dance in a circle in an animation.
